A Prayer Kept in the Heart 마음의 기도

A Prayer Kept in the Heart

The phone rang.

It was my eldest sister.

Under the name of a simple greeting,
longing was calling.

"You've been quiet lately,"
she said.

With a smile, I replied,

"Why don't we go together
to a place with beautiful mountains
and clear flowing waters?"

She answered,

"You have faith,
and yet you say such things?"

I smiled again.

"Isn't that what family love is?"

Though she is not our mother,
she has always embraced her younger siblings
with the heart of an eldest sister.

So I playfully asked her

to buy us something delicious.

After all,

that is how we meet more often,

how we see each other's faces,

how we share our stories

and know that we are still walking through life together.

Family members live far away.

News of growing grandchildren

often arrives through photographs alone.

Seeing one another face to face

becomes more precious with every passing year.

Conversations may begin

with the language of faith.

Sometimes the words feel awkward at first.

Yet in the end,

one truth remains.

Prayer is not something offered

only at a certain hour.

It quietly lives within the heart,

lingering in our thoughts,

our concerns,

our blessings,

and our love.

To carry someone in your heart,

day after day,

is already a form of prayer.

Though far apart,

we remain close.

Though news comes rarely,

the bond remains.

And that enduring love,

was itself

a prayer.
